MP3 Here I give and the score of a captive work of the twentieth century. The Quartet to the end of time "by Olivier Messiaen for ViollĂn, Clarinet, Cello and Piano.
Review of the book: After the Nazi occupation, Messiaen joined the French army, was captured in 1940 by German troops and taken to a concentration camp in Silesia. It is right where he composed his chamber work more important: "Quartet for the End Times." The miraculous presence among his fellow captives a clarinetist, a violinist and a cellist determined the heterogeneous formation of this quartet. In a context marked by hunger and humiliation, Messiaen and intellectually isolated the eight composed parts of his work. Despite the horror, he fought against adversity and did emerge from the shadows this impressive quartet, inspired by a passage of Revelation (one in which the angel raises his hand the sky saying: "There will be no more time" to which Messiaen himself as defined "access to eternity."
