here will not include the typical list of nominees. For this you can go to any page (or better, CinempatÃa , as we are). I speak of those nominations, at least briefly ...
I find it incredible that two very great movies such as Zodiac and American Gangster, not in the major categories. I understand that my tastes are not universal, and can not be shared by many. I also know that members of the Academy American Film films have infinitely more knowledge than me ... But, forgive me, I've pissed off with these nominations as it did not since Chicago won the Oscar for best picture for The Pianist (...).
Zodiac passed unnoticed at the box office USA, and Spain also had a sound recovery, if I remember correctly. But while it may suffer from having a rather extensive footage, this is one of the movies with my most enjoyable in a cinema. The best thriller I've seen in years ... I find it really amazing that Zodiac is not among the nominees, but even more that Fincher is not nominated for best director ...
American Gangster was the perfect semi-final last year. Black cinema of the good. With footage also extensive, with a pace that never fell. The script is good, the direction and editing are already very good ... and Denzel Washington is one of the best performances I've seen (well supported by Russell Crowe). I can not understand why the absence of Ridley Scott and Denzel ... Do you get an Oscar for Training Day and not for American Gangster? Please ...
I must say I am surprised, in good measure, Atonement and Michael Clayton are nominated in so many categories, although I have not seen either. Juno part of a brilliant idea, and has that air of indie-alternative that helps ... and we have seen the result. No Country for Old Men, the Coen brothers, and There Will Be Blood, also have an interest, and a priori are the ones that catch my attention, but I can not express my views because I have not seen yet.
Anyway, these Oscars, in my view, be something decaffeinated ... Glad Bardem's nomination, and I think this year has serious potential. Let's hope it succeeds.
